XML-RPC is an early spin-off from the SOAP effort. <A REF="http://www.xmlrpc.com/">XML-RPC</A> supports only RPC-style request/response interactions, and it uses a loosely typed programming model. There are many open source implementations of XML-RPC, including <A HREF="http://ws.apache.org/xmlrpc/" REL="nofollow">Apache XML-RPC</A>. <BR/><BR/><A HREF="http://www.w3.org/TR/soap12-part1/" REL="nofollow">SOAP </A>supports RPC-style, document-style, and messaging-style interactions and uses a strongly typed programming model. There are many open source and commercial implementations of SOAP, and it's supported in most application platforms.
